Well, Hello CHAIRS!

It's been months since I've darken the doors of my local Salvation Army. But yesterday I was feeling something calling me from deep inside the store.
I walked around and first found the cute swivel yellow stool.
Other then the layer of dirt and wobbly back it was perfect.
Then I found the cute pink and yellow chairs. It was love at first sight! One of the chairs was "recovered" with fabric and cat hair which I promptly removed when I got home and found the yellow vinyl seat was still in great condition.
A little citrus cleaner and elbow grease and I have three new retro chair in my craftroom!

Not sure why, but the pink is two different shades of pink.
Maybe one lived in the sunlight for years.

They look right at home!

I also got this great salt shaker, which is now a prisma glitter shaker.
And the picture which I really wanted just for the frame,
but now the picture is starting to look cute to me.

What did I pay for all this you ask?
An unbelievable $17.00!

That also included a road atlas and two other books.

Kissing Balls & Paint Chip Hearts

Ahhh the crape paper kissing balls. I found these on Pintrest and fell in love. They are pretty easy to make, but came out to be heavy which I wasn't expecting. Hanging them took a little more then just the tack I was imagining.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to find brown crepe paper streamers? I was ready to run around town, but shockingly found them at Walmart, on clearance no less. What a great day!
I used Close To My Heart ribbon to make bows to hang them from. I just pushed them into the balls with large hat pins.
The next project, also from Pintrest was the hearts cut from paint chips. I used my Cricut and cut the hearts in 3 different sizes from shades of pink and brown.

Then I put them back to back and zig zagged them together in long streamers. Scott hung them for me in the corner of the my craftroom along with a copper mesh fruit basket filled with pine cones and pink balls.

Craftroom Makeover DONE!.... mostly

I started searching for my "craftroom style" a few months ago. The space I was crafting in was out of control. In fact I often called it barbaric crafting conditions. I had so many supplies, but nothing was ever where I thought it should be. The room really went against my "everything in it's place" lifestyle. It was going to be the death of my creativity.
I know I'm very blessed to have a whole room for my crafting addiction.... but I was a very bad steward of the space. I'm more then happy to say that the makeover is DONE, and I've been using the room for a few weeks and it's a pleasure to create in it.

Let us first review the barbaric conditions!
Please note Lauren's microwave from her dorm room on my desk.
The room was the "catch all" of the house.
The below picture makes my skin crawl.
The room wasn't always this barbaric,
but as you can see it was miles away from organized.
The picture below was my inspiration.
I'm very much a shabby chic girl,
and it never works when I try to stray from that.
Even if I like the look of other neater styles.
I had a budget of $0 for my makeover,
so other then paint and some fabric
I have spent next to nothing on the project.
I liked the way this room was a mosh posh of furniture,
which is exactly what I had to work with.

Below is my room.
And I love it!

Paper storage which is a rack for horizontal storage.
It was the very bane of my existence.
So I put it on it's side and I now have vertical paper storage.
It's a little harsh looking in my "soft" looking room, but it works well, and creates a nice space for putting more supplies on top of it.

The bird cage I got at a yard sale well over a year ago.
I put Christmas lights, and an ornament bird in it.
CD rack that I got at the same yard sale as the bird cage.
I've mounted it to the wall, and for now am using it to display
mini scrapbook albums.
It's purpose may change.

Craft magazine storage.
I really don't like my printer there, but I have no idea where to put it.

Plastic pink table cloth, with pretty cream and tan print fabric,
all topped with a clear plastic.
Looks pretty, but it was inexpensive and easy to keep clean.
AND it hides all the storage bins under the tables.
Kissing balls I made, but they are to heavy to hang from the ceiling with a thumb tack.
So I need to get something more heavy duty to hang them in the corner over the tables.
I still have more ideas for the room. I want a wire hanging on the wall so I can display artwork. And I'm sure more banners to hang, because that's my "thing" right now. I also have a large wood CD holder that I'm painting cream. I use it to store all my stamps. I just have NO idea where I will put it.

Creativity Pennant Banner

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these Close To My Heart chipboard banners. Each package comes with 8 chipboard pennants (7"x6" which is a good size) and they are only $5.95. I've been wanting to make one for my craftroom.... because I'm so into them right now. Here's how I did it.
Each package comes with 8 chipboard pennants, and jump rings.

I use a liquid glue to attach the background paper, then I use a sanding block to "clean up" the edges of the chipboard. It's much faster then trying to cut your paper perfectly to fit. You can see in the below picture how the two bottom pendents have been sanded, and look perfect.
I like to use a neutral brown (Close To My Heart Desert Sand) to shabby up all the edges.
I cut the letters out using my Cricut. I cut each letter out 4 times so I can layer them and make them really stand out. I also used the shadow feature on the Cricut to cut the backing for each letter.
I wanted the letters to "pop" off the shadow so I used just regular old school glue and made a bead of it on the back of the letters and let it dry. That made a little lift once I attached the letters to the shadow.
You can see that lift in the picture below.
I embellished with torn paper, ribbon,
and flowers cut with the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.

I attached the pennants together with ribbon (I like that look better then the jump rings) and just used thumb tacks to hang it from the wall. It's not at all heavy so it's very easy to hang.
